Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced plans to launch the new AWS area in Chile by the end of 2026. The AWS AWS (Chile) regions will consist of three avilability zones to bring AWS infrastructure and services closer to customers in Chile. This new region connects to AWS South America (São Paulo) and AWS Mexico (central) regions as our third AWS regions in Latin America. Each availability zone is separated by a meaningful distance to support applications that require low lute, while nordinently reduces the risk of one event.

The new AWS area will bring advanced cloud technologies, involving artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), closer to customers in Latin America. Through high -length bands with low latency above reserved, fully reduced thread will be supported by applications requiring synchronous replication, while giving you flexibility to start your workload and local data storage for meeting data residents.
AWS in Chile
In 2017, AWS founded an office in Santiago de Chile to support local customers and partners. Today there are teams for business development, architects Solutions, partners, advisors of professional services, support for employees and employees in various other roles in the Santiago office.
As part of our Nagoing commitment to Chile, AWS invests in several infrastructure offers throughout the country. In 2019, AWS launched Amazon Cloudfront Edge in Chile. This provides a highly secure and programmable content delivery network that speeds up data, videos, applications, and API users around the world with low latency and high transmission speed.
AWS strengthened its presence in 2021 with two significant additions. First, the antenna antennas AWS antennas at Punta Arenas offer a fully managed service for satellite communication, data processing and scaling of global satellite operations. Secondly, the AWS bases in Chile bring a fully managed infrastructure and AWS services to virtually any rental or marginal lease for a hybrid experience.
In 2023 AWS further improved its infrastructure with two key development, rental of AWS connection in Chile, which allows you to create a private connection between AWS and your data center, office or collocation environment and local zones in Santiago, placement, storage, database, selected services closer to large population centers. The local AWS zone in Santiago helps customers to provide applications requiring end -user -friendly millisecond users.
The upcoming representation of AWS South America (Chile) Our continuing commitment to support innovation in Chile. In addition to building infrastructure, AWS plays a key role in the development of Chile’s digital workforce through complex cloud education initiatives. Through the AWS Academy, AWS Education and Aws Builder AWS, it provides basic cloud computing skills to different groups – companies and developers for business professionals and emerging IT leaders. The AWS honestly 2017 trained more than two million people throughout Latin America on cloud skills, including more than 100,000 in Chile.
AWS Customers in Chile
AWS Customers are increasingly moving their applications to AWS and running their technological infrastructure in the AWS regions. With the addition of this new AWS area, customers will be able to provide end users with even lower latency and use advanced technologies such as generative AI, Internet of Things (IoT), mobile services, banking industry and more to control innovations. This area will provide AWS customers the possibility to operate their workload and store their content in Chile.
Here are some examples of customers in Chile using AWS to manage innovation:
The Secretariat of the Digital Government (SGD) is a Chilean government institution responsible for the proposal and coordinating the implementation of the digital government strategy and provides an integrated government approach. SGD coordinates, advises and provides support across the industry in the strategic use of digital technologies, data and public information to improve state administration and service. To meet this mission, SGD refers to AWS for the operation of critical digital platforms includes, inter alia, Clave ÚNICA (Single Sign-on), Firagob (Digital Signature).
Transbank, large payment ecosystem administration of large payment solutions, a large percentage of national transactions, used AWS to significantly reduce time to the market for new products. In addition, Transbank has implemented multiple AWS-Powed solutions, increased the productivity of the team and accelerated innovation. These initiatives show how Finnish technology companies can use innovation and operating efficiency. “The new AWS Région in Chile will be very important to us,” said Jorge Rodríguez M., the main architecture and technology director (CA & to) from Transbank. “Furthermore, it will reduce latency, improve safety and expand the possibilities of innovation, allowing us to serve our customers with new and better services and products.”

Efforts to Sustainability AWS in Chile
AWS undertook to water management in Chile through innovative nature conservation projects. In the Maipo basin, which provides basic water for Metropolitan Santiago and Valparaiso regions, AWS said goodbye to local farmers and Climate-Tech Kilimo to implement water savings initiatives. The project includes the transformation of 67 hectares of agricultural land from flood to drip irrigation, saving approximately 200 million lites of water every year.
This Water Protection Effort promotes AWS commitment to be positive by 2030 and demonstrates Fordation approximately sustainability in communities where AWS works. The project uses efficient dripping systems that supply water directly to the root systems of plants through a specialized pipe network, maximizing the efficiency of water for agriculture. The AWS community in Chile
The AWS community in Chile is one of the most active in the region, including AWS Community builders, two AWS user groups (AWS User Group Chile and Aws Girls Chile) and AWS clubs. These groups organize monthly events and organized two days of AWS Community. On the first community day, which took place in 2023, we had the honor of having Jeff Barra as the main speaker.
